Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty
You will learn preparation and diving procedures involved with enriched air diving and make two open water dives. We'll also show you how to use your air dive tables to make nitrox dives and you'll get to use a nitrox enabled dive computer.
Enriched air diving will allow you to dive on increased oxygen air ratios. As oxygen is added, nitrogen is decreased and the result is Nitrox. What does this do for you? Since there is less nitrogen in the air you are breathing and a key factor for no-decompression diving, your body will absorb less nitrogen and therefore your maximum dive time increases.
As an example, if you dive to 50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes, assuming no residual nitrogen from a previous dive. Yet when diving on EANx36 (36% oxygen) under the same conditions you would have 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes! It's perfect for underwater photographers, wreck divers and anyone who wants to stay down longer and dive safer.
This course requires a minimum age of 15 and will cover 1 day with 2 SCUBA dives in the open waters of Hawaii.
